On Wednesday, the 15th of July, the starting shot for registration for the big digital race will be fired
The Canarian Foundation Carrera por la Vida – Walk for Life is a charity that has been working for 15 years to raise awareness about the importance of early detection of breast cancer. Our goal is to serve as an instrument to cover the needs and demands of those affected by breast cancer, providing them with therapeutic wear, organising assistance activities and training workshops, funding research projects and collaborating economically with other associations.
With the common goal of bringing forces together to the fight against breast cancer, different organisations from Belgium, Bosnia-Herzegovina, Greece, Italy and Romania decided, in 2018, to create Think Pink Europe, a network which, by the end of 2020 will represent 30 different European countries. Think Pink Europe is made up of organisations and foundations that are actively working to eradicate breast cancer. The Walk for Life Foundation joined this network in 2019, and it is the only Spanish charity that is part of this network, and therefore is responsible for organising the RACE FOR THE CURE 2020 in Spain.
Nancy G. Brinker from Dallas, founded an association after losing her sister due to breast cancer in 1983, which, for the first time, organised the ‘Race for the Cure’. That first race, which had 800 participants, has become a charitable event that brings together 1 million people each year in more than 140 cities around the world, to celebrate life, raise funds and demand new investments and improvements in research and treatment for breast cancer. This year, 2020, the Walk for Life Foundation is the organisation that coordinates and promotes the Race for the Cure in Spain. The situation resulting from the COVID-19 makes impossible to hold this event physically, so on the 25th, 26th and 27th of September social networks will become the means to unite Europe in a digital race to raise funds and give visibility to our fight. Ultimately, this will enable us to raise awareness and solidarity with breast cancer.
The starting gun will be fired on the 15th of July and the registration period for the great digital race will be opened. Each organisation from each country will take on the challenge to register the highest number of participants which translates into the highest amount of funds raised too, which will be contributing to the projects and actions they maintain and support. Through the web www.carreraporlavida.org, and by filling in a simple form, participants can make their donation and will be able to obtain their runner bib to join the digital race which hopes to become the world’s largest digital event in support of people affected by breast cancer.
Now more than ever, WE WALK WITH OUR HEART.
